 CBD Products for your pets.

There is a variety of CBD products in the market today. They include; CBD oils, CBD pills/capsules, CBD vapes and CBD edibles. You should follow your veterinary’s advice while choosing the one to use for your pet. The most common form of the above is CBD oil.

CBD oil is preferred by most people for their pets because;

  1. It’s an  extraordinary food supplement for pets improving their vitality.
  1. It’s a complimentary drug for veterinary treatments.

Suitable for aggressive animals or the ones that are in anxious states. Helps the animals release muscle relaxantsThere is neither psychoactive effects  nor addiction. It helps protect the nervous system and also helps increase comfort and activity in pets with osteoarthritis.

What to consider before buying CBD for your pet.

  • Check the certificate of analysis.

Authentic CBD products will have a certificate of analysis since there is nothing to hide.

The certificate of analysis is usually found on the label. It also contains the lab test results, and also the THC amount. You should always look for the following three tests which should be present in the certificate of analysis.

  1. The microbial test. It is a test that shows results for pathogens like salmonella.
  1. Pesticide test. Because some organic CBD products are contaminated from other crops, this test detects pesticides.
  1. Heavy metal test. This shows the result for pollutants like lead.
  • Choose CBD with no THC

Since CBD is found in both cannabis and hemp plants, CBD in cannabis has a small amount of THC, the psychotic cannabinoid. The CBD from hemp has within the legal limit. THC of any amount is toxic for pets and should be highly avoided. It’s affects can be; vomiting, diarrhea, and many other reactions.

  • Never use hemp oil.

Hemp oil contains either little or no CBD at all. This makes it non-therapeutic for pets. Always check the certificate of analysis to see the amount of CBD in the product.

  • Confirm the dosage.

Since CBD is not regulated by food and drug administration yet,  dosage hasn’t been established. The wide ranged research suggests that the dosage for dogs should be according to weight. Should be 2 mg per kg.

Since majority are not approved by FDA, a lot of products may not contain the labelled ingredients, and because of that, they require a  proper testing, and regulation so that veterinarians can safely recommend the  CBD  pet products. Let the veterinarian know when you use CBD for your pet, because it’s important for them to know all medications given to your pet.
